What ages is ScienceSplosion™ designed for?+
The show is adaptable for grades K–12. Scientific depth, comedy and audience interaction are adjusted for the students in the room. Family and public performances are also available.
What science topics does the show cover?+
Topics can include the Scientific Method, critical thinking, gravity, laws of motion, the speed of light, the mathematics of juggling, DNA, diversity of life and logical fallacies.
Can the show connect to our curriculum standards?+
Yes. Presenters and educators can share specific standards of learning or curriculum priorities for possible inclusion in the performance.
What type of venue can present the show?+
ScienceSplosion works in performing arts centers, theaters, schools and educational outreach series. The technical rider calls for a stage of at least 12 by 20 feet, a 10-foot minimum ceiling, basic sound, a bright stage wash and video projection.
Does Mark travel with production equipment?+
Mark can integrate with your sound, lighting and projection. For many driving engagements he can also supply sound, lights and video equipment.

VCA ROSTER ARTIST · MARK NIZER
Your stage.
Up to 50% support.
Mark Nizer is listed on the Virginia Commission for the Arts Touring Artist Roster. Eligible Virginia presenters may apply for a Virginia Touring Grant that reimburses up to 50% of the contracted performance fee for qualifying engagements.
Grant support may reimburse as much as half of the contracted performance fee.
Current FY27 awards range from $100 to a maximum of $7,500 per performance.
The grant requires an equal cash match from eligible non-VCA sources.
FY27 applications opened March 2, 2026 and are due at least two weeks before the event, no later than December 1, 2026.
- Contact Mark or DCA Productions to discuss dates, performance options and fees.
- Sign a contract containing the required VCA funding contingency language.
- The eligible Virginia presenter applies through VCA’s online grant system.
- After the performance, submit the required final report to receive reimbursement.
Eligible applicants include qualifying Virginia nonprofit organizations, local or tribal government units, and federally tax-exempt Virginia schools. Performances generally must occur in Virginia at least 30 miles from the artist’s home base. Grants are awarded to presenters, are not automatic and remain subject to VCA eligibility rules and available funds. Always confirm current requirements with VCA before contracting.
